This year’s Laser World of Photonics is taking place in the last week of June in Munich. We will use the opportunity to publish new Brochures at our booth which is directly located at the entrance area west EW.300. Please make sure to visit our booth and get your own copy of the PPP impact report and the new Photonics market research study 2017.
There is also a booth representing our pilot lines PIXAPP, MIRPHAB and PIX4Life in hall A3 booth 132. Meet our pilot lines and get information on how they can help your business.
Several projects of the Photonics PPP are organizing special workshops in this frame: You are welcome to join the RespiceSME’spartners to discuss photonics innovations and educational programmes during the workshop for aligning education with innovation on 28th June, to learn more about photonics applications in the automotive sector at the Photonics Inter-cluster Meeting on 29th June and to network and boost collaborations with other stakeholders during the RespiceSME’s brokerage sessions (27th - 29th June).
1. Workshop “Aligning Education with Innovation”, 28.06.2017, from 13:00 to 18:00 The workshop will focus on how to trigger innovation in photonics through improving the curricula of photonics courses in higher education. In order to support the interaction between SMEs and students, an informal ‘get together’ and a matchmaking session for jobs seekers will take place after the presentations. SMEs and students will meet to find or offer internships and jobs opportunities. For the publication of your job offer, please use the form on the website and send it back to Petra Bindig (petra@photonicsweden.org) until the 20th of June at the latest!
Registration for the workshop is open until 20th June. For more information on the matchmaking please click here.
2. Photonics Inter-Cluster Meeting on “Boosting the Collaboration of Photonics SMEs in Automotive”, 29.06.2017, from 13:00 to 18:00 This cluster meeting will go beyond the usual cluster gatherings, inviting both, cluster representatives and SMEs, to exchange views on strengthening the innovation potential of photonics SMEs. Renowned multinationals and SMEs will share their experiences in the automotive sector and present success stories of photonics solutions in LIDAR and connected car technologies. Please register for the meeting by latest, 20th June.
3. RespiceSME Brokerage sessions, 27.-29.06.2017 SMEs, Photonics clusters, RTOs, Academia and experts are invited to sign up to partake in brokerage throughout the trade show.
For more details and for registering to the brokerage events, please see the meeting-mojo platform. Participation in all above-mentioned events is free of charge.
The EU project LASHARE is also conducting a workshop we kindly invite you to.
4. Workshop “Digitisation of Laser-Based Equipment”, 29.06.2017 from 10:00 to 14:00 The European Commission, Photonics21 andLASHARE invite to a workshop on "Digitisation of laser-based manufacturing" at Laser World of Photonics 2017 in Munich, Hall B3.360. On June 29th from 10:00 to 14:00, a Forum at the exhibition will open the stage for an exchange on challenges in digitisation. The event will be started by the European Commission and Photonics21 which both will give an insight into their work today and the future plans to organise research in this field. The presentations of running projects will take a close look at ICT integration into pieces of equipment and on equipment integeration into ICT environments alike. A worskhop will collect feedback from the audience to provide input to future work programmes at European level and to give directions to actual work that is carried out in collaborative and industrial projects.
- Digitisation in photonics for industrial applications (Photonics21)
- Digitisation in photonics for excellence in Europe – the actual work programme towards 2020 (European Commission)
- I4MS Projects: LASHARE & APPOLO
- Workshop on Challenges in Digitisation of laser-based equipment
- IR&RIA Projects: Adalam, Combilaser, Encompass, Hiperdias, Hiperlam, Hyprocell, Modulase, Paraddise, Tresclean
Further details can be found in the program.

ALPHA-RLH hosts scores of photonics innovations from eight cluster members at Laser Fair in MunichALPHA-RLH (Route des Lasers & des Hyperfréquences®), a technology cluster specializing in photonics, microwave and digital technologies, today announces that it is assembling top of the line high-powered lasers, ultra-precise optical instruments and ‘plug and play’ photonics systems from eight of its cluster members at Laser World of Photonics in Munich, June 26 – 29, booth #B3 336
The ALPHA-RLH Competitiveness cluster is visiting the European Commission! In view of the next call for innovative projects in the Defense area and also to introduce the new competitiveness cluster ALPHA-RLH, Patrice GAMAND, Microwaves and Communications business development management, with Magali Pages, Nouvelle-Aquitaine region representative, met on May, 31st in Brussels with Charalampos Giannakopoulos, Policy Officer – Defence Industries in defense, avionics and naval, DG GROW, European Commission and with Marian Savu, Policy Officer Industry Relations and Support, European Defence Agency (EDA). These meetings have contributed to the visibility of the cluster through its global competences in technologies and applications. This was also the opportunity to get more insights about the preparatory action on defence research that will be launched soon by the European Commission. A dedicated day about this call for project is organized on June 27th in Brussels. This is an opportunity to meet with potential contributors to the preparatory action.

The EU-project Photonics4All aiming at promoting photonics to young people, entrepreneurs and the general public throughout the EU successfully came to an end in December 2016 with an impressive record of 20 outreach tools developed and presented in about 230 events in two years. To enable further impact, the most successful Photonics4All tools and activities were described in three Best Practice Handbooks focused on photonics outreach towards young people, entrepreneurs and the general public, respectively. Specific highlights are children’s universities, teacher training sessions, a photonics board game competition, innovation workshops, a European start-up challenge, as well as the organisation of photonics campaigns, the development of a unique instrument for light-based scientific shows as well as of quite simple but extremely successful bookmarks. The handbooks should be relevant to all those interested in outreach, whether a newcomer or more experienced science communicators.
The handbooks are available as eBooks and in a printed version.
